Our programs meet a number of diverse needs. The instructors at FMAA are experts in all ages and experiences.
Pee Wees: We offer a special program for children in the 5 to 6 year old category. This program is designed with the very young in mind. We teach children how to follow directions and to learn coordination in a fun and exciting environment.
Children 7 – 12: These classes are divided by rank and experience. Our focus is confidence and discipline. What is unique about FMAA children’s classes, is we do not build a false sense of confidence, in that students will be brought up to meet the requirements of karate, and not the reverse of bringing the requirements down to the student, which is a trend in many sports today. Students feel good in knowing they have actually earned their belts, and not just having it handed to them. Students are taught that they can reach their goals, no matter the obstacle, whether it is in karate, or school, or other aspects of their life. These lessons are remembered even in to adulthood.
Teens and Adults: Physical fitness and self-defense is the primary focus of the adult classes. No matter your age, or physical condition, FMAA classes can help you meet your goals. As an adult, you may have injuries such bad joints, or back, that may prevent you from performing certain techniques. FMAA instructors will work with you, and your injuries, and can adjust your workout accordingly.
FMAA adult classes are not held in a strict, military style, competitive environment. Instead, FMAA instructors provide a professional and encouraging environment that facilitates continued learning. At the same time FMAA students form a bond that furthers the encouraging environment, leading to lasting friendships and even some friendly competition.
